Procida has been the Italian Capital of Culture in 2022.
It is the first time that a small Island boasts the coveted nomination. Our tourist guide will welcome you and make you discover the hidden parts of the Island. On a typical Procidan taxi, we will set out to discover the Terra Murata Island, and the former penitentiary. This one is an extraordinary monumental complex, consisting of what was originally the D’Avalos Palace. Built between 1560 and 1570 by the d’Avalos, feudal lords of the island until 1729, it was later transformed into the Royal Palace and hunting lodge by Charles III of Bourbon. In 1815 it became a military academy first, then a prison and penal bath for lifers.
Sea Food lunch in a typical Procidan restaurant in the beautiful surroundings of the Coricella. After lunch, you will be visiting the Chiaiolella beach, some free time for a bath, and coffee and “lingua di bue” taste.
Transfer to the small harbor and return to Naples or Pozzuoli by own transportation.
